SPECTRUM GOLF SIMULATORS

THE ADVANCEMENTS OF HOME GOLF SIMULATOR SYSTEMS

SCREEN SHOTS OF OUR GOLF SIMULATORS

INNOVATIVE GOLF SYSTEMS IS A DIVISION OF SPECTRUM GOLF. SPECTRUM GOLF HAS BEEN IN GOLF BUSINESS SINCE 1998. OUR MAIN FOCUS HAS ALWAY BEEN GOLF EQUIPMENT. OUR PASSION FOR VIRTUAL GOLF SIMULATORS ACTUALLY STARTED IN THE MID 1990'S WHEN WE WOULD SPEND HOURS PLAYING COMMERCIAL GOLF SIMULATORS DURING THE HARSH OHIO WINTERS.  LIMITED COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY MADE COMMERCIAL GOLF SIMULATORS VERY EXPENSIVE,  WITH BASIC SYSTEMS RUNNING WELL OVER 40,000 DOLLARS. THE ACCURACY AND REALISM WAS ALSO LIMITED WITH THE EARLY GOLF SIMULATORS. MOST VIRTUAL SIMULATORS DID NOT ACCURATELY TRACK THE CORRECT BALL FLIGHT. SO  FEEDBACK WAS VERY LIMITED. IF YOU COULD SWING A CLUB, THE BALL TYPICALLY FLEW STRAIGHT ON THESE ORIGINAL GOLF SIMULATORS.

Golf simulator technology has come a long way since the 1990's With the advancement of computers and technology, golf simulators are more affordable than ever. With a basic  computer and monitor, you can sent up a home golf simulator system.

GOLF SIMULATOR COMPONENTS

Each Virtual Golf System utilizes the 3 piece heavy duty hitting mat with putting cup and golf simulation software.  The portable home golf simulator uses a portable hitting net ( 10 by 8 by 5) that can be set up virtually anywhere. You provide the computer and monitor. The basics of this golf simulator is you hit the ball into the net and then you can watch the ball flight on the monitor or tv. You can use real balls and real clubs. This golf simulator system can easily be upgraded.

The projector/screen home virtual golf simulator utilizes a full enclosed 10 by 10 by 10 metal hitting cage with a 140" diagonal impact screen.  You are actually hitting into the HD image of the golf course and watching your ball travel down the fairway. Feedback is accurate and instant.  It is  the ultimate home golf simulator.   The hitting cage can be custom made to your specifications. Requires no drilling or cutting.

MORE GOLF SIMULATOR HISTORY

A Home Golf Simulator is a computerized system  that allows one to play golf on a graphically or photographically simulated driving range or golf course indoors. Most golf simulators were for commercial use or for the very wealthy. 20 years ago, most commercial golf simulators cost upwards of 40-50 thousand dollars. Now, with advancements commercial golf simulators cost a fraction of the price. Golf simulators have been around since the 1980's. Some golf simulators utilize sensors around the entire simulator to provide accurate feedback. Other virtual golf simulators utilize sensors near the projector to track the ball.  With advancements in technology today, home golf simulators utilize sensors in the hitting mat to track the precise movement of the club instead of the ball. The golf simulator software is installed in a home computer that can then transmit the golf simulator image onto a projector, computer monitor or tv.

Some virtual golf  simulators also come with their own software, allowing the golfer instant feedback from every shot. Club path, clubhead speed, face impact and face angle are all provided instantly after every shot.
The principal advantage of a golf simulator is the ability to conveniently play and practice in a controlled environment. Often that includes the ability to play without playing pressure, green fees, tee times and the drive to and from the course, but the advent of "indoor golf centers" which provide simulators for commercial play, bring many of these competitive and social aspects into the simulated game. For those who live in wintry climates or urban settings, golf simulators offer the ability to play and practice year-round or within the confines of their locale. The space requirements for a home golf simulator can range from just needing an 9-ft ceiling to an entire room.

There are a number of different technologies used in Virtual Golf Simulators. Principally golf simulators either track ball flight or club head motion. Ball flight is typically tracked via wavelength sensors, such as from infrared, or through audio, or from lasers, by which the ball's flight properties are tracked, namely launch angle, ball speed and ball direction. Club motion is similarly tracked via wavelength sensors or other devices such tethers, cameras, or lasers, with the motion of the club tracked, namely club head speed, direction and impact point of the ball on the club.

The data collected is extrapolated to provide ball flight trajectory and roll out according to certain calculated relationships to the ball's flight performance per the tracked motion of the ball or club, adding environmental aspects through which the ball is projected, including terrain, wind, rain and other such influences or obstacles.
